Temple End Vets

SGT was introduced to Temple End Vets through a referral to review the energy costs at its Stokenchurch clinic. The veterinary practice was spending more than it expected, with dozens of meters spread across its five Buckinghamshire sites, each on a different billing contract.

SGT recommended two changes: moving every meter onto a single energy tariff, and making the most of the Stokenchurch site’s south-facing roof by installing solar panels. Generating its own power would let Temple End Vets earn from the electricity it produced, storing surplus energy in on-site batteries.

Temple End Vets had considered solar before, but had run into difficulties because of the type of roof on the property. SGT sourced a reputable installer who specialised in fittings for that exact roof, and work began in May to gradually move every meter across the portfolio onto one tariff.

By October, the Stokenchurch site had a full solar installation, expected to pay for itself within four years.

The result

SGT’s input has been instrumental in simplifying and streamlining our energy provision. We have nine different supplies at five separate sites, so keeping track of the accounts to get economical tariffs was a big job. We now have the economy of scale by using one company to provide all our energy on a better deal. With SGT’s help, Temple End Vets is expecting an annual saving of £17,000. The practice will also cut admin costs — a typical invoice costs £50 to process — while the new solar panels are set to generate £3,500 of electricity a year, which the clinic can store or sell back to the grid.
